COURSE DESCRIPTION

City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw using Free Fall Techniques (Unit 0039-23 old CS39). Formerly known as CS39, this qualification involves the use of a chainsaw and is designed for arborists, tree surgeons, people who have jobs that require tree climbing or people wishing to enter the Arborist industry. It provides a range of skills from the removal of single limb/parts of tree canopy to the complete removal of trees without the use of rigging equipment. It is also covers the removal of tree sections from the crown using free-fall or hand thrown techniques. You will be taught to carry out a tree hazard evaluation and perform a ‘working at height’ assessments. This climbing courses is very physical and candidates must be fit and able to carry out the tasks required of the course. Course Content: • HSE legislation and safety guideline.s • Safety considerations to be observed in organising a worksite and ground staff briefings. • Check and prepare the chainsaw for intended operations. • Use appropriate positioning for working in the tree including changing work position for cutting. • Demonstrate the appropriate use of various cuts on target limbs. • Use chainsaws in a safe and efficient manner to remove light and medium weight branches. • Equipment inspection, storage and waste disposal. • Use of tools in a tree. • Remove limbs using handheld and free fall techniques. Duration: • 2 Days Training. • 1 Day for Assessment. • Total Duration: 3 Days. Prerequisites: • Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting (0039-20 old CS30). • Tree felling and processing (0039-21 old CS31). • Basic tree climbing and perform aerial rescue (0039-22 old CS38). Capacity: • Max 4 Delegates Per Course. Cost: • Training: £290 +VAT. • Assessment: £160. Assessment: • City & Guilds NPTC assessment carried out by an independent assessor. Accreditation: • MediArb Training Certificate & City & Guilds NPTC Qualification Certificate. Expiry of Accreditation: • Recommended refresher training every 3 - 5 years.
