TREE CLIMBING & AERIAL RESCUE


COURSE DESCRIPTION

City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue (Unit 0039-22 old CS38). This course will introduce candidates to the skills required for accessing a tree using a rope and harness, and being able to carry out aerial rescue operations. The course is a physically demanding week, but hugely enjoyable course that will introduce you to a wide range of climbing equipment and techniques. It will give candidates confidence to access and work in trees using rope and harness, rescue an injured climber from the crown of a tree or from a standing pole. Course Content: • Access a tree using rope and harness and aerial tree rescue operations. • Understand legislation in relation to tree climbing. • Identify a range of P.P.E appropriate to work positioning systems. • Tie, dress and set a range of tree climbing knots. • Identify hazards and manage the associated risks. • Carry out visual tree inspection. • Carry out a pre-use inspection of tree climbing equipment. • Choose appropriate anchor points. • Use techniques for safe and efficient ascent and descent. • Understand the duties of a competent grounds person. • Establish safe and comfortable work positions. • Use climbing irons (spikes) safely and efficiently. • Carry out a variety of aerial rescue techniques. • Store climbing equipment appropriately. Duration: • 5 Days Training. • 1 Day for Assessment. • Total Duration: 6 Days. Prerequisites: • None. Capacity: • Max 4 Delegates Per Course. Cost: • Training: £500 +VAT. • Assessment: £160. Assessment: • City & Guilds NPTC assessment carried out by an independent assessor. Accreditation: • MediArb Training Certificate & City & Guilds NPTC Qualification Certificate. Expiry of Accreditation: • Recommended refresher training every 3 - 5 years .
