COURSE DESCRIPTION

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry. The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to deal with emergency first aid situations within forestry and agriculture environments. This qualification is designed to supplement a First Aider’s existing First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and covers the recommended topics stated in the Forestry Commission First Aid policy 2015. Course Content: Emergency First Aid: • Responsibilities and reporting. • Resuscitation. • Assessment of the situation. • Anatomy. • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty. • Minor injuries. • Basic hygiene in First Aid. • Bleeding control. • Burns. • Choking. • Epilepsy. • Shock. Forestry First Aid: • Catastrophic Bleeding Control - use of Tourniquet and Haemostatic agents. • Crush injuries. • Shock. • Responsibilities and reporting. • Resuscitation Assessment of the situation. • Emergency Planning and remote medical assistance. • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty. • Effects of extreme cold. • Lyme disease. • Minor injuries. Duration: • 1 Day (8 Hours). Prerequisites: • None Required. Capacity: • Max 12 Delegates Per Course. Cost: • From £99 +VAT. Assessment: • A summative practical assessment is made by the instructor. No external Assessors are required for this course. Accreditation: • FAA - Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland). • FAA - Level 3 Forestry First Aid. Expiry of Accreditation: • Three Years.
